How to convert DVD disc to Microsoft Surface easily

As you known, you can’t play back your DVD disc with Microsoft Surface. You can try to use an external DVD driver because Surface has the full size USB port. But will you take an external DVD driver to anywhere? And obviously it also will reduce the battery life for Surface.
