As we know, Samsung Galaxy S series have a nice camera and high-resolution screen. You can take very high quality videos & photos around yourself, share with your friends and families, which is really cool.
However, there are still risks of losing the photos and videos at any time because of accidental deletion or data error. You should form a good habit of regular backups. Then you will not panic when losing something important. Even if you don’t have a backup, you still have chance to recover the photos or videos by using Android Data Recovery.
Dr.Fone for Android is a safe & easy-to-use android data recovery program and can help you to retrieve any data like photos, videos, contacts, text messages, documents, music & archive files etc. on your Galaxy S6/5/4.
2. Root your Android phone. (See also: How to root Android devices.)
P.S. Do not upgrade to Android 6.0, because it’s hard to root.
Steps to recover data from Galaxy S6/5/4
Step 1, Connect your Galaxy S6/5/4 to PC
Launching Dr.Fone for Android, you’ll get the primary window below. Please connect your Galaxy to the computer via a USB cable.
Step 2, Enable USB debugging (Optional)
If you have enabled USB debugging on your Galaxy S before, you can skip this step, else you will see a window as below. Please follow the detailed expression in the window to set it now: Enter “Settings” > Click “About Phone” > Tap “Build number” for 7 times until getting a note “You are under developer mode” or “Developer mode has been enabled” > Back to “Settings” > Click “Developer options” > Check “USB debugging”.
For details, you can read this post: How to Enable USB Debugging on your Android Devices.
Step 3, Start scanning the data on your device
After enabled the USB debugging, the program will detect your device automatically. Then Click “Start” to analyze the data on your device. Please note that you’d better to keep the battery more than 20% before scanning.
Note: If your device is not rooted before, the program will start scanning directly after the analysis. Or you will need to allow the program Superuser authorization on the screen of your phone. Just click “Allow” when the message pops out on your device’s screen. Then back to your computer, and click “Start” on the program’s screen to scan your device.
Note: Do not disconnect your device during the scan, or the scan will fail. If the program doesn’t start scan for a long time, please try again. And some devices present “Allow” button for several times. Just click it until it doesn’t appear again or the program begin scan.
Step 4, Preview and recover
The scanning process would take a while. Then you can preview all recoverable data found in the scan result sorted by category. Mark those you want and click “Recover” to save them on your computer.
Note: Deleted contacts, text messages, and other else are also displayed in the result, and deleted SMS and contacts are shown in red. You can separate them by the color.
