First, you should have a iTunes, you can download the latest version from the Apple website(http://www.apple.com/itunes/).
Before backing up, you should know that iCloud and iTunes can back up most data on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The backed-up information includes purchased music (backup of purchased music is not available in all countries), TV shows (US only), apps, and books; and also photos and video, which are in the Camera Roll; device settings (like Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts); app data; Home screen and app organization; Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS), ringtones, and more. Media files aren’t backed up, but can be restored by syncing with iTunes.
Every time you sync your iOS device with iTunes, it will back up automaticlly (disabled if you have iCloud backup turned on).
You can also manually backup your iOS device using iTunes. Follow these steps to manually backup your iOS device using iTunes:
- Connect your iOS device to a computer with the latest version of iTunes installed
- Click the device button in the upper right corner.
- Click “Back Up Now” button below “Manually Back Up and Restore“.
- You can also click the File menu and select Devices > Back Up.
Note: If you are using iTunes 10.7 or earlier, just right-click (or Control-click) the device and choose Back Up.
